These photos were taken on a month-long trip to Russia in May-June 2008.
Gallery 13: Suzdal

This photo and following: the lovely Nativity of the Virgin Cathedral,
its base dating from the early 13th century and the distinctive blue domes from the 16th.

The famous "Golden Doors" of the Cathedral of the Nativity, "executed in
the technique of 'fiery gilding' on copper" according to a sign posted nearby.

These structures were part of a kind of medieval theme park,
but again quite impressively wrought ...

A wall and corner constructed in the traditional style,
using carefully carved and fitted beams.
