Russia 2008

Photos by Adam Jones

These photos were taken on a month-long trip to Russia in May-June 2008.

Gallery 9: Prokhorovka & Kursk

I.

This photo and the following several were taken in Prokhorovka's small but
fascinating municipal museum, devoted both to the 1943 battle and the wider history of the town,
which was founded along the railway line in 1868. This image, and the next one, are taken from a
mural in the museum, and give a vivid and to my knowledge realistic image of the scale and character
of the climactic tank-battle outside town.

On our way back north from Prokhorovka, we passed a few hours in the city
of Kursk itself, including time in this waiting room adorned with images of the war.
