Gallery 10: Vladimir
Vladimir, the ancient capital of Russia, is at the heart of the "Golden Ring"
of historic Russian cities, a couple of hundred kilometres east of Moscow.
It sits high on a strategic hill overlooking the Klyazma River, with majestic
views of the surrounding countryside.
The Cathedral of the Assumption, begun in the 12th century, probably
the first major engineering and architectural accomplishment in Russian history.
