(states of Karnataka, Goa, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala) from June to August 2008.

"Backwaters" around Kerala, by houseboat and hand-punted canoe.

The main industry hereabouts is coir (rope made from coconut fibre, and one
of a handful of words in the local Malayalam language to enter English -- teak is another).
