Gallery 20: Listvyanka / Lake Baikal

I.

I almost fell over with laughter when I saw this sign. In Spanish,
the verb "to rent" (arrendar) also means "to surrender," and I suppose a like
mixup occurred in this attempted translation. It never fails to amaze me, in my global
travels, that people go to the bother and expense of fabricating an English-language
sign, without bothering to buttonhole a native speaker and ask them to proofread
the text. You might say it really gets my goat (next photo).
