The following photos were taken on a monthlong trip through Romania in June 2007.
Photo Gallery 26 - Borsa
I.
Leaving Sighet at last, we headed east towards Moldavia and made an unplanned
stop at the town of Borsa, where we had to wait until the following morning for onward transport.
This photo, taken from Borsa, shows Mt. Pietrosul (2305 metres) towering over the surrounding region.
II.
Countryside around Borsa.
III.
Restaurant interior of the Pensiunea Perla Maramuresului, where we stayed.
IV.
Alexandra, 17 years old, works at the Pensiunea, speaks good English,
and helped us out a lot -- including arranging a ride to the other branch of the
hotel down the road (see below).
V.
About a kilometer outside Borsa, Gheorghe Roman, the proprietor of the
Perla Maramuresului, is building a second branch of the hotel which features his
wonderful wood carvings ...

VII.
... and specimens on the property of some of the large mammals
found in the Carpathian range surrounding Borsa, including this deer ...
VIII.
... and a lynx ...
IX.
.. and even a gorgeous wolf cub, which I had a chance to hold.
