(Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam) from May to July 2009.

This gallery: Hanoi façades. The city is renowned for having the most extensive repository
of French colonial-era architecture anywhere in the former empire, and it's glorious stuff.

The Hanoi Opera House, built in the early 20th century. (Next door is the Hilton Hanoi
Opera -- they avoided the name "Hanoi Hilton" for its association with the prison complex where downed
American pilots were held in captivity during the Second Vietnamese War.
