This gallery: images from the dramatic Li Phi Falls on Don Khon island, and from Champasak,
a sweet and sleepy former colonial centre on the Mekong.

This photo and following: at Li Phi Falls, the Mekong roars over a series of rapids. "Li Phi means
'trap spirit' and locals believe the falls act as just that -- a trap for bad spirits (of deceased people and animals)
as they wash down the river" (Lonely Planet).
