These photos were taken during two-and-a-half months in South India
(states of Karnataka, Goa, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala) from June to August 2008.

The remaining photos in the gallery were taken en route to, and in, the village
of Anegondi on the other side of the Tungabhadra river. As the next picture shows, the bridge across
the river has yet to be completed, so meanwhile the only way to cross is in a
putti, a reed coracle
like this one, which carries motorbikes as well as passengers (and often requires a fair bit of bailing
at journey's end!).
