Following four images: details of works by Hansen Bahia, a brilliant
German artist who washed up on these shores in the 1950s and became a beloved
adopted son through his vivid and humanistic woodcuts, depicting the lives of
Salvador's poor and dissolute. The last two of the images are from his illustrations
of the epic poem, Návio Negreiro (Slave Ship), by Brazil's most famous poet,
Castro Alves. All these images are found in Cachoeira's Museu Hansen Bahia,
dedicated to the artist's work.
